When we touched down in Cleveland, Ohio we wanted to see Ford’s Cleveland Engine Plant #1 where the 351C engine was born. We also wanted to visit the legendary H-D dealership known as South East Harley-Davidson.South East H-D has been in business since 1948 and still is family owned. if you remember the Visa commercials from the mid-90s with that kitschy H-D shop, then you have seen the place.
South East boasts having a large number of bikes and a gigantic softgoods department. The even have one of Elvis’s bikes on display, but this dealership has something special that no other H-D shop has; a 1946 Worcester Dining Car inside of it! The diner was formerly Leo’s Diner of Rochester, New Hampshire. It has gone virtually unchanged and was operated solely by Leo until his death in 1985. After Leo’s death, the diner was locked up and not operated until it was purchased by South East Harley-Davidson in June of 1989. The restoration and clean-up of the diner was done by employees and customers of South East Harley-Davidson. How cool is that?
